Summer Camp Day at a Glance

8:00 am – 9:00 am
 
Before Camp Care
 
Before camp care is an additional cost. Campers may bring a game and can assist staff with setting up for the day.
9:00 am – 9:10 am
 
Morning Huddle
 
Group gathers to go over and get pumped for the day’s menu, activities, and goals. Any questions about the previous day’s items may be asked at this time.
9:10 am – 9:40 am
 
Morning MEP Prep
 
Campers team up in partners and complete their MEP (mise en place) for their morning recipes.

9:50 am – 10:05 am

 Optional Morning Recess/Morning Snack

 Campers take a quick recess outside and eat a healthy, nutritious snack provided by Rooks to Cooks.

10:10 am – 10:30 am

 Morning Demonstration

 Campers gather at demo station with their recipes and learn how to prepare the morning menu items. Depending on the items, the length of the demonstration will vary.  Some demos may be broken into parts.

10:30 am – 12:00 pm

 Morning Menu Preparation

 In partners, campers return to their tables and prepare the morning menu items, which will be eaten for their lunch. All morning menu items in our cooking programs are savoury items. At this point in time, instructors and counselors circulate assisting campers.

12:00 pm – 12:15 pm 
Clean Down and Lunch Set Up
Campers clean up from their morning menu preparation and set up for their lunch. All food prepared in the morning gets pooled together and is served to the campers cafeteria style.
12:15 pm – 1:15 pm 
Lunch and Break Time 
 
Campers sit down and enjoy their lunch. On nice days, campers and staff will eat lunch on the grass outside. After they are finished eating, counselors will run 3 options of activities: 1. A group Game of the Day, 2. Free play, aka Box of Fun, and 3. Decorations for the Friday night restaurant. Campers are encouraged to join in on the group Game of the Day to get them running around and active, however, the choice is theirs to make.
1:20 pm – 1:40 pm 
Afternoon MEP Prep 
 
Campers team up in partners and complete their MEP (mise en place) for their afternoon recipes.
1:45 pm – 2:05 pm 
Afternoon Demonstration 
 
Group gathers at demo station with their afternoon recipes and they learn how to make the afternoon menu items. Depending on the items, the length of the demonstration varies.
2:05 pm – 3:05 pm 
Afternoon Menu Preparation 
 
In the same groups, campers return to their tables and prepare the afternoon menu items, which will be either saved for second stage preparation the following day, or taken home to share with their families. Afternoon menu items can be both savoury and sweet. At this point in time, instructors and counselors circulate assisting campers.
3:05 pm – 3:15 pm 
Optional Afternoon Recess/Afternoon Snack 
 
Campers take a quick recess outside and eat a healthy, nutritious snack provided by Rooks to Cooks.
3:20 pm– 3:50 pm
End of the Day Clean Down 
 
Campers and staff do a full clean down from the day’s activities
3:50 pm – 4:00 pm 
End of the Day Huddle 
 
Before campers leave, the group gathers to discuss their favourites from the day and what they learned. Campers and staff encourage one another to share one compliment for another student in the class. Each day, the student they select must be different from the day before
4:00 pm – 5:30 pm 
After Camp Care

After camp care is an additional cost. Campers may bring a game and can assist staff with setting up for the next day.
