Live virtual cooking classes for intermediate students

ROOKS TO COOKS VIRTUAL ACADEMY – COOKS 

Our Cooks division is perfect for intermediate to advanced students who want to expand their recipe repertoire, build on their current foundation of knowledge and take their skills to the next level. 

Anticipating most of our Cooks students will come to the table with intermediate knife skills, cooking skills, culinary knowledge and are comfortable in the kitchen, our chef instructors will lead these classes at faster pace allowing this group to take on more challenging renditions of the same recipes taught in the Rooks groups. 

Experienced and passionate chef instructors will guide your chef-to-be step by step through new nutritious and delicious recipes each week! Time permitting, students will engage in discussion topics allowing the group to interact with one another and build virtual friendships.

The recipes featured are optimal for teaching fundamental culinary knowledge and skills such as measuring, mixing, whisking, assembly, knife skills, stove top cooking, baking and more! Recipes have also been carefully selected to minimize the use of high risk equipment when possible in order to prioritize your child’s safety and encourage independence in the program. Every week students will learn to work with new equipment and ingredients, exposing your child to a large array of kitchen tools and flavours.  

Through their participation your child will become more efficient, organized, independent, self-sufficient, confident and eager to continue cooking at home. 

Our Rooks group is well suited for passionate youth and teens 10+. Interested students under 10 years old must receive clearance by head office before enrolling.

All recipes have vegetarian and nut free alternatives. 

Most recipes also have gluten-free and vegan substitutions. All substitutions are pre-listed in your program package.

  • 1:8 Chef to student ratio
  • Digital recipe booklet
  • Recipies, consolodated shopping lists, equipment needs and set up instructions sent 1 week before first class

Brilliant Bakers Cooks –  (Ages 10+)

$ 100.00 CAD (4 weeks)

Our Brilliant Bakers program is designed to engage your tween pastry chef’s mind while supplementing what they’re learning in school with real world applications of math. Along with the teaching of top notch pastry recipes, we’ll practice and apply mental math, fractions, portions and measurements in the most delicious of ways. Your chefs-to-be won’t even know they’re learning!

Brilliant Bakers was written using REAL Ontario curriculum guidelines to help your child learn hands-on baking skills, while socializing with new friends AND secretly applying academic knowledge while learning from home.

Foods of the World Cooks –  (Ages 10+)

$ 100.00 CAD (4 WEEKS)

Our Foods of the World course is designed to teach our students fundamental life and cooking skills while introducing them to new foods and flavours from around the world. Together we will explore up to 4 different cultures and cuisines, and learn more about the history and geography which has contributed to the recipes they create. While we travel around the world with our recipes, we’ll be using pantry staples and unique blends of ingredients and spices to bring these dishes to life. Together with our chef instructor, your child will expand their global knowledge, engage in discussions about the food we’re making and its origins, and, of course, take their skills to the next level.

Delectable Dinners Cooks (Ages 10+)

Looking for a fun, engaging and educational after school program for your chef-to-be? Look no further, Rooks to Cooks has just the program for them! Delectable Dinners is the best of both worlds. It is a fun after school program designed to teach our students fundamental life and cooking skills, AND makes for a fantastic opportunity to get dinner prep completed by none other than your budding chef!

Each class your child will learn to create a nutritious and delicious meal to be proud of, which will be completed just in time for dinner time! Our Chef will be there every step of the way to guide your child, answer any questions, and be there for support as they learn these new skills. What better way to keep them busy, engaged and learning, while feeding the whole fam at the same time!? Join us for our most delicious program yet. Delectable Dinners will be the night of the week both you and your child looks forward to the most!

Breakfast Club – SATURDAY OR SUNDAY (Ages 7+)

The Breakfast Club, is your child’s ticket to mastering the foundations and preparation of breakfast foods. Eggs shmegs! The Breakfast Club is here to kick your traditional breakfast foods up a notch, educate on the wonderful world of breakfast cookery, and start your child’s weekend off right. Each week our exclusive Breakfast Club students will come together to learn and prepare a new nutritious and delicious breakfast recipe that will inspire and encourage independence and self-sufficiency. At the end of each class, your child will serve up a gourmet breakfast for the entire family. Why not kick-start their day with our most innovative and delicious program yet?!
