Cooking Day Camps in Leslieville


Our Leslieville camp is one of our new Toronto locations at St. Joseph’s Parish, 162 Leslie Street, just north of Queen St. E. Easy access by public transit or by car. We’re super excited to be offering our classes in this vibrant and unique community. The camp is only minutes away from a nearby park where we can enjoy the summer weather during our breaks. Our aspiring young chefs will enjoy cooking up lots of delicious dishes and serving up an extra helping of fun.

  • Around the World (7+) - $475.00 CAD

    25 June, 2018 - 29 June, 2018

    Around the World is an exciting, mouth-watering week that takes our campers on a 5-day adventure, visiting some of the most iconic food cultures in the world.

    This week, we teach our students proper knife skills, conventional cooking methods some baking and pastry skills, and cooking techniques through 15+ traditional recipes from many different parts of the world. In addition to the,cooking skills learned during this week, campers will work with a large variety of ingredients, leaving with a better understanding of how to independently execute recipes.

    Friday - Japan

  • Tots with Pots (4-6) - $380.00 CAD

    Tots with Pots is a full-day camp program for the youngest chefs-to-be.

    This week our focus is on safely introducing our campers to the basic skills and cooking methods needed for preparing entry-level recipes. The skills taught in this camp are similar to those taught in The Bare Bones camps, but the pace and recipes selected are better suited for little chefs ages 4-6.

    We recognize that little ones often have aversions to an array of ingredients, so this week is built around getting our campers to try new foods that they may have been intimidated by in the past and develop their palates to make home meals a little more manageable. Through our experience working with children, we have seen astounding results in this area and are confident in our ability to change the hearts of even the pickiest eaters!

    Because this week is shorter, there will be no Friday night pop-up restaurant. However, a full celebratory graduation ceremony will still take place, sure to be a proud and memorable experience for all.

  • Bare Bones Jr. (7+) - $475.00 CAD

    9 July, 2018 - 13 July, 2018

    The Bare Bones Jr. is a full-day camp program that teaches our campers the foundational skills needed for food preparation.

    This week we focus on building safe and proper knife skills, learning conventional cooking methods, as well as a wide range of cooking techniques that can be easily applied at home. In addition to the cooking skills learned during this week, our campers will work with a vast variety of ingredients used in 15+ recipes. Through this experience, our campers leave with a better understanding of how to independently follow and execute recipes in their own homes.

    Classes start at 9:00am, drop off at 8:50 am to get chef coats on, wash hands and get ready for the day.

    The Friday class ends at 6:30pm to accommodate the pop up restaurant at the end of the week.

    There is before care available as early as 7:30 am and after care available as late as 5:00pm for $20.00/hour.

    Budding Bakers Sr. is a fun and intensive full-day baking camp for those teens who show a particular interest and passion for the pastry arts.

    This week is organized by daily themes that showcase some of the most renowned areas of the pastry arts. Through exploring these themes and working through 15+ recipes over the course of the week, our campers will learn the theory as well as the practical training needed to execute these temperamental tastes.

    Mondays – Breads & Cakes
    Tuesdays – Pies & Tarts
    Wednesday – Custards & Fillings
    Thursdays – Pastries & Cookies
    Friday –Chocolate & Candies

    Instead of a pop-up restaurant on Friday, our students will be running an afternoon high tea showcasing some of their favourite dishes from the week. This afternoon tea is meant to teach them the importance of presentation, service and to offer them a peek into how the industry works. We hope your teen can join us for the sweetest week we offer!

    Our Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Desserts camp teaches our campers the skills and recipes to make every meal of the day, all on their own! It is perfect for aspiring cooks who want to begin collecting or expanding on their knowledge of food preparation.

    Tuesday focuses on breakfast foods, Wednesday lunch items, Thursday dinner entrees, and Friday on Desserts. Because this week is shorter, there will be no Friday night pop-up restaurant. However, a full celebratory graduation ceremony will still take place, sure to be a proud and memorable experience for all. Following graduation, our campers will have recipes for every meal of the day tucked away in their back pocket to confidently use at home.

  • Cooking Green (7+) - $475.00 CAD

    13 August, 2018 - 17 August, 2018

    Cooking Green is a full-day cooking camp for our chefs-to-be who have a particular interest in health and nutrition.

    In addition to a complete overview of fundamental cooking and baking skills, this week our students will also learn the
    importance of organic, local, and ethical farming. All of this will be done through the exploration of many exciting (though not exclusively) vegetarian and vegan recipes.

    Join us in our quest to living a healthier life while saving our planet, one carrot at a time!

  • Around the World First Class (11+) - $475.00 CAD

    Around the World First Class is a more challenging and daring addition to our Original Around the world program. In our First Cass program our students will take a 5-day adventure, visiting some of the most iconic food cultures in the world.

    This week, we teach our students proper knife skills, conventional cooking methods and cooking techniques through 20+ traditional recipes from many different parts of the world. In addition to the cooking skills learned during this week, campers will work with a large variety of ingredients, leaving with a better understanding of how to independently execute recipes.

    Wednesday - Middle East
    Thursday - France
    Friday - Tuscany

  • Master Chef Jr. (9+) - $475.00 CAD

    27 August, 2018 - 31 August, 2018

    Master Chef is a full-day camp program where our students learn to cook with their hearts more than their heads! It is suggested (not mandated) that our Master Chef students complete one of our entry-level camps prior to registration, to learn the basic skills of the kitchen beforehand.

    This week teaches our campers more advanced cooking techniques, helping them to build their knowledge and skill in the culinary arts. Emphasis on plating and dish composition is in full force! This week encourages our campers to be creative and free in the kitchen, building their confidence, and helping them find their unique style. This will be achieved through black box challenges and group recipe development exercises, only offered by Rooks To Cooks.

    We recognize the potential in every camper and know if given the chance, each camper will shine as bright as the biggest professional chefs out there. Join us, sit back and watch the magic unfold!
