Keep the kiddos busy, engaged, and learning this March break with our wonderfully delicious virtual March break camps! Whether you are looking for a full week of fun or a workshop or two to jazz up their break, Rooks to Cooks has got you covered. 

All programs are conducted LIVE on Zoom by our experienced and passionate chef instructors. Through step-by-step instruction, your chef-to-be will learn valuable life and cooking skills as they cook their way through 5-star menus inspired by the season. While learning and practicing new culinary skills, their chefs will also share industry knowledge and theory promoting a holistic learning environment. Both morning (10:00am – 12:00pm) and afternoon (1:00pm – 3:00pm) sessions are available. 

Zoom links, consolidated shopping lists, recipes, equipment needs, and set up instructions will be sent 1 week before your course. All savoury recipes will yield 4 servings to help with family meal prep!

At Rooks to Cooks we are dedicated to delivering the best experience possible. As such, we maintain a minimum 1:8 chef to student ratio and keep class sizes small to ensure optimal interaction and supervision.

All recipes have vegetarian and nut free alternatives. 

Most recipes also have gluten-free and vegan substitutions. All substitutions are pre-listed in your program package.

Our Sweet & Savoury Spring campers will learn both pastry and culinary knowledge and skills as they prepare a new sweet and savoury recipe each day! 2 – DAY BREAD BAKING 101 WORKSHOP

CALLING ALL BREAD LOVERS! Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own bread completely from scratch? Well look no further, our EPIC 2 day bread 101 workshop is your ticket into the wonderful world of bread making and baking. Under the guidance and direction of our passionate and enthusiastic bread expert, Chef Carm, students will learn foundational bread baking knowledge, theory, and skills as they prepare 4 bakery-quality bread recipes completely from scratch. Leaving this workshop, your child will have the knowledge, skill and confidence to prepare 4 different types of bread for eternity! FRESH RAVIOLI WORKSHOP

Pasta lovers assemble! It’s time to rock and roll out some fresh pasta completely from scratch! Under the guidance and direction of our passionate and experienced chef instructors, students will learn all the tricks of the trade to preparing fresh sweet potato ravioli from dough to fork. After taking this workshop our students will not only have the knowledge and skills to prepare this delicious recipe, but will also leave with the experience and understanding of how to prepare fresh pasta as a whole.

HOMEMADE ECLAIRS WORKSHOP

There is nothing better in this world than a freshly baked eclairs. The crisp and buttery choux paste shell, the sweet and fluffy cream, and last, the rich and beautifully shiny chocolate glaze! Under the guidance and direction of our passionate and experienced pastry chef, Chef Barbie, our students will learn to make, bake, fill and glaze their very own batch of fresh eclairs from the comfort of your own home. Recipes featured are our Signature pate au choux, vanilla chantilly cream, and chocolate glaze. You won’t want to miss this technical and tasty workshop!

HOMEMADE OREOS WORKSHOP

Who doesn’t love a good ol’ oreo cookie? The crisp chocolate wafers, creamy vanilla centre, and the various ways to eat them, theres no surprise why they’ve been a popular household treat for over a century! In honour of this long-living and popular cookie, Rooks to Cooks is pleased to offer our new homemade oreo workshop! Under the direction and guidance of the skilled and passionate Chef Donna, our oreo workshop students will learn to make, bake and assemble 2 dozen of these delicious sandwich cookies.

2 DAY SHOWSTOPPER LAYERED CAKE WORKSHOP

After countless requests from our students and community we are overjoyed to launch our 2 day showstopper cake workshop! In this 2 day weekend workshop our students will learn all the tricks of the trade on how to make, bake, assemble and decorate a bakery worthy cake to be proud of. Our pastry and cake decorating expert, Chef Barbie, will share her 20+ years of baking and cake decorating tips, as she guides and supports her students every step of the way. Using our blank canvas recipes, students will even have the choice of what cake, buttercream and chocolate drip flavours they’d like to choose from, supporting their vision for what cake they’d like to make from the get go!

DELICIOUS DUMPLINGS WORKSHOP

Theres nothing better than fresh dumplings as an app or side to a meal. However, so few of us know how to make these little pockets of deliciousness! Well no better time than the now to learn! Under the guidance and direction of our passionate and experienced dumpling expert, Chef Donna, students will learn to prepare, assemble and cook up to 25 of our Signature Sesame Chicken or Tofu Jiaozi served with our delectable sweet soy glaze, fresh green onions and toasted sesame seeds YUM!

PERFECT PIZZAS WORKSHOP

Mama Mia, Did you say Pizza?! In our perfecting pizzas March break workshop, students will learn all the tricks of the trade behind preparing the perfect pizza. First, students will learn to prepare their very own pizza dough completely from scratch. As it rests, we will work on the sauce and get to practice our knife skills through the preparation of your toppings of choice! Last, we will assemble and bake our pizzas, providing our pizza pro, Chef Carm, an opportunity to guide the group through our final piece of the pizza pie workshop, a delicious side salad. Each participant will leave with 2 medium pizzas and 4 servings of salad, lending to an excellent lunch for the family and or dinner prep for that evening.

MARVELOUS MACARONS WORKSHOP

After years of requests, R2C is overjoyed to launch our very first Marvellous Macarons workshop! Who can resist these beautiful and popular french sandwich cookies? They’re colourful, texturally sound and come in an endless supply of colours and flavours! Under the guidance and direction of our pastry expert, Chef Barbie, students will learn to make these elegant treats. The recipes featured in this workshop include both the macaron shells and TWO delicious fillings; a decadent ganache and fluffy buttercream. Each student will leave with up to 24 macarons to munch on over the course of your families March break.

SUSHI AND MISO SOUP WORKSHOP

In honour of Chef Shai’s favourite food of all time, we are pleased to announce the release of our very first sushi workshop! In this workshop, sushi students will learn all the tricks of the trade when it comes to preparing sushi. First, students will learn to how to make the perfect sushi rice, the foundation of Japanese cuisine. From there, our sushi chef, Chef Carm, will guide the group through the knife skills component of the class, assisting as the group perfect their julienne and baton cuts. Next, it’s time to rock and roll our maki before finally ending off with our signature miso soup! Our mouths are watering already!

DELECTABLE DOUGHNUTS WORKSHOP

Whether they’re filled will jelly or glazed and topped with sprinkles, there’s no debating doughnuts are D-LICIOUS! Theres no better time than now to learn how to make your very own from the comfort of your own home. Under the guidance and direction of our very own doughnut expert, Chef Barbie, students will learn to make, fry, glaze and decorate a dozen fresh doughnuts. First, we will prepare our signature yeasted doughnut dough. While we let our dough rest and rise, we will prepare our glazes and toppings. Next, with the help of a parent or guardian, our students will roll, cut, and safely fry their doughnuts, ending things off for the day with glazing and decorating. It’s going to be the workshop of the century so don’t miss out and secure your child’s spot today!

Under the direction and guidance of our pasta pro Chef Carm, your child will learn to prepare our signature ricotta gnocchi in a delectable tomato and basil sauce completely from scratch! HOMEMADE MARSHMALLOW WORKSHOP

Whether you roast them, fold them into a cookie batter or simply snack on them plain, theres no debating marshmallows are a pastry staple. Under the guidance of our pastry pro Chef Barbie, our students will learn to make, marble and set their very own marshmallows completely from scratch. Each participant will yield a full 9 x 13inch pan of delicious homemade marshmallows

TERRIFIC TACOS WORKSHOP

We are pleased to announce the release of Terrific Tacos, your child’s ticket to delicious tacos for eternity! Under the direction and guidance of Chef Carm, an avid taco fanatic himself, our Terrific Taco students will learn to make our signature sweet chili lime shrimp or chickpea tacos with homemade guacamole and citrusy slaw. This menu is perfect for a family lunch and or even dinner prep for that evening!

CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKES WORKSHOP

Ooey, gooey and decadent, chocolate lava cakes are the perfect dessert to wow a crowd. In this workshop, our best baker Chef Barbie will guide her students through the preparation of our signature chocolate lava cakes, salted caramel sauce, and fluffy maple whipped cream. Each student will end the workshop with up to 10 delicious chocolate lava cakes to share with the whole family.

BURGERS AND FRIES 101 WORKSHOP

Veggie, beef, chicken, and even turkey, there’s no arguing burgers are some of the most versatile menu items on the planet! In our Burgers and Fries 101 workshop, our students will learn all the tricks of the trade when preparing burger patties, fries, and even aioli’s completely from scratch. Chef Carm will share his industry tips and tricks on how to prepare the perfectly shaped patties, crispiest fries, and creamiest aioli in this 2-hour innovative workshop. Vegan menus are available!

LOLLIPOPS AND CRUNCHIE BARS WORKSHOP

Inspired by our incredibly popular Candy Cane workshop in December, Lollipops and Crunchie Bars will take your family by storm! In this workshop, our confectionary expert Chef Barbie will guide her students through our delicious menu, homemade lollipops and homemade Crunchie bars, YUM! First we will kick things off with our sponge toffee, a light and airy hard caramel treat (also happens to be the centres of the popular Crunchie bar). While it cools and solidifies, the group will prepare their lollipops and tempered chocolate. Last, we will cut and coat the sponge toffee in the chocolate finishing off our homemade Crunchie bars, and workshop as a whole. Parent supervision is required for all participants under the age of 16
