Age Disclaimer

Here at Rooks to Cooks, we believe “age is just a number”. We recognize and appreciate that maturity levels vary drastically between children and that your child’s age might not be the best indicator of their abilities. If your child wishes to participate in a session but they do not meet the minimum age requirements, do not fret! We are open to accepting them and would love to help work with you to determine whether or not taking part is the best decision for them. To inquire if this is indeed your child’s situation, please email Chef Shai at info@rookstocooks.ca to begin the discussion. We look forward to hearing from you!

Meet your Chefs

Chef Austin – Sous Chef

Culinary Management, George Brown College
Culinary style: Classical French dishes with a nice ‘swoosh’ of savoury purée

My first job was in a kitchen as a line cook and ever since then, I have had a deep love for cooking. I truly realized my passion for cooking when I started the culinary program at George Brown. My favorite work experience thus far has been the opportunity to develop my skills in a French fine dining restaurant called Noble, where I worked my way up the totem pole from junior cook to assistant sous chef. The food industry is constantly evolving. It is my privilege as a young chef to be constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the kitchen and to experiment with what could be the next big edible creation.

My chefs mission is to ignite a spark of passion and respect towards the world of the culinary arts within my students at a young age so that they can carry that love for food with them throughout their lives.

I love dogs! And I have a little teacup Shih Tzu named Stella that can fit in the palm of your hand. I’m also a big fan of camping and have been a camp counselor for a winter camping program where we slept in Igloos in -20⁰C!
