Age Disclaimer

Here at Rooks to Cooks, we believe “age is just a number”. We recognize and appreciate that maturity levels vary drastically between children and that your child’s age might not be the best indicator of their abilities. If your child wishes to participate in a session but they do not meet the minimum age requirements, do not fret! We are open to accepting them and would love to help work with you to determine whether or not taking part is the best decision for them. To inquire if this is indeed your child’s situation, please email Chef Shai at info@rookstocooks.ca to begin the discussion. We look forward to hearing from you!

Meet your Chefs

Chef Maysaa has been working in the culinary industry for 7 years. One of her most influential experiences was an internship in Panama City working with some of Panama’s best chefs, Chef Riesen and Chef Donde Jose. It was here where her passion for the culinary arts and ethnic cuisines took off. Since Panama City, Chef Maysaa has held various positions in the industry from large scale catering to restaurant cheffing. Throughout these roles she was able to pick up the many tips and tricks that she intends to share with her students.

Since 2016 Chef Maysaa has switched gears from kitchen work to cooking education. She has been working at Rooks to Cooks since 2017 and acted as sous chef at our North York location during the summer of 2018. She is over the moon excited to take on the co-lead role with Chef Ash this summer at Mississauga, and can’t wait to meet her 2019 campers!

“My chefs mission is to help my campers feel accomplished and gain self confidence through learning how to cook. I also want to inspire them to use cooking as a way to make others happy, as cooking is my way of showing love.”

Chef Ash has been a cooking instructor for almost 6 years teaching healthy cooking programs and culinary skilled programs to children ages 5 and up. She has held positions with George Brown College, Ronald McDonald’s Charity House Toronto and even been on the Rooks to Cooks team since 2016. Chef Ash spends her summer months working in restaurants and growing her skills in the industry. She currently works at a restaurant called Joeys as a line cook and is in the midst of attaining her Red Seal as a certified Chef in Canada.

In addition to her culinary and teaching passions, Chef Ash is a health and nutrition advocate. She works hard to remain active and plans to bring her nutrition education into her lessons this summer.

Chef Ash is a superstar cook and an incredibly patient and passionate culinary instructor. She is beyond excited to co-lead with Chef Maysaa at our Mississauga location and can’t wait to meet her 2019 budding chefs.
“I want to teach my students something new about cooking each day, to give them the courage to try new foods, to inspire them to be creative in the kitchen and to have fun along the way”
