Live virtual cooking classes children and teens


Our virtual culinary academy was built to teach our students foundational culinary knowledge and skills in a fun, engaging and interactive way.  

All programs are conducted LIVE on Zoom by our experienced and passionate chef instructors. Through step-by-step instruction, your chef-to-be will learn valuable life and cooking skills as they cook their way through 5-star menus inspired by the season. While learning and practicing new culinary skills, their chefs will also share industry knowledge and theory promoting a holistic learning environment.

Zoom links, consolidated shopping lists, recipes, equipment needs, and set up instructions will be sent 1 week before your course. All savoury recipes will yield 4 servings to help with family meal prep!

Whether your child is a beginner looking to get the basics down or a budding chef eager to expand their recipe repertoire, build on their current foundation of knowledge and take their skills to the next level, Rooks to Cooks has a program for them. 

The recipes featured are optimal for teaching fundamental culinary knowledge and skills such as measuring, mixing, whisking, assembly, knife skills, stove top cooking, baking and more! Recipes have also been carefully selected to minimize the use of high risk equipment when possible in order to prioritize your child’s safety and encourage independence in the program. Every week students will learn to work with new equipment and ingredients, exposing your child to a large array of kitchen tools and flavours.  

Through their participation your child will become more independent, self-sufficient, confident and eager to continue cooking at home.

My boys had a fantastic time baking last week.  I thought the virtual program was very well organized and simple to follow.   Baking is so much easier than I thought!  Although it took a little more planning from me, the boys truly enjoyed making all of the dishes and they especially loved the coconut macaroons, the challah bread and the chocolate moist cake.  What I also loved is that the camp kept the boys busy all afternoon, which meant that they were not on their phones!  It helped to build their confidence in the kitchen and showed them the importance of organization as well as patience!

Our professional uniform (chef coat, apron & specialty cut resistant glove) is ONLY $25.00 plus tax


Our professional uniforms were custom made by our team and designed specifically for children and youth. The fabrics used in our chef coats and aprons are a blend of polyester (65%) and cotton (35%). This blend recipe is optimal as the polyester is a strong and resistant fabric, dries quickly, and is naturally fire retardant as it has one of the highest burning temperatures than other fabrics (perfect for the kitchen). The cotton adds softness and breathability to the uniform, keeping your child cool in the kitchen and ensuring they are comfortable while wearing the uniform. Our cut safe gloves are lightweight, comfortable and awarded the highest level of protection for cut resistant gloves, Level 5. Now your kiddo can learn to work with knives without the fear! All components of our uniform are washer and dryer safe and are meant to hold up against heavy use. 


All recipes have vegetarian and nut free alternatives. 

Most recipes also have gluten-free and vegan substitutions. All substitutions are pre-listed in your program package.

Delectable Dinners is the best of both worlds. It is a fun after school program designed to teach our students fundamental life and cooking skills, AND makes for a fantastic opportunity to get dinner prep completed by none other than your budding chef! In each class, your child will learn to create a nutritious and delicious meal to be proud of and it will be completed just in time for dinner!

All recipes have been carefully selected to permit hands-on practice for all fundamental culinary skills, such as knife skills, pan work, oven mastery and more! Our experienced Chef instructor will be there every step of the way to guide your child, answer any questions, and offer support as they learn these new skills. What better way to keep them busy, engaged and learning, while feeding the whole fam at the same time!? Join us for our most delicious program yet. Perfecting Pastries

Perfecting Pastries is a fun and intensive baking program built to engage any child or teen with a passion for the sweet side of life. This progressive and groundbreaking curriculum may just be Chef Shai’s most prized work to date. From quick breads to confectionery, your chef-to-be will transform their baking skills and gain an unparalleled learning experience from our passionate and experienced pastry chefs and culinary professionals. Each week we will focus on new foundational techniques and pastry theories, executing recipes that utilize this new knowledge, building both a practical and theoretical knowledge base. Recipes will increase in difficulty as the program proceeds, ending off with a showpiece cake that will make your entire family proud. Leaving the program, our pastry-chefs-to-be will know a wide range of baking techniques, the science behind the ratios that make their baked goods so delicious, and, of course, the practical experience needed to recreate the magic at home!

Cutting Edge Chefs

Knives are the most important tool in any chef’s kitchen and mastering knife skills safely, confidently and efficiently is integral to any cooks’ path to safe and successful cooking at home. With this being said, learning to work with knives can be intimidating for both children and their parents. This understanding inspired the birth of our newest and most innovative after school program yet, Cutting Edge Chefs! 

In Cutting Edge Chefs, your child will become increasingly more confident and skilled in knife work by safely slicing and dicing their way through 8 delicious weeks. Through daily demonstrations, hands-on practice and corrective guidance from our chef instructors, your child will learn foundational knife cuts such as slicing, dicing, chopping and mincing, as well as, an invaluable education of the nutritional significance of each dish. Over the course of the program, students will be exposed to the foundational blade instruments such as knives, microplanes, peelers and graters as we prepare over 16 recipes that make for a perfect side dish for dinner and emphasize knife work from start to finish. Sweet & Savoury Snacks

Can’t decide between a sweet treat or a savoury snack? With our Sweet & Savoury Snacks program, there’s no need to choose a side. During this 8 week course, your child will learn fundamental cooking and baking techniques, proper knife skills and diverse cooking methods, as they prepare new sweet and savoury snacks each week! This course was developed to help youth of all ages build their independence and self-sufficiency, while teaching them to view food as fuel and how to take control of their personal nutrition. All the recipes featured are exceptionally balanced nutritionally and meant to inspire a lifelong appreciation and prioritization of one’s health. Following their participation, not only will they have gained practical cooking and baking skills, they will also leave with a new mindset, passion for their personal nutrition and the skills to cook for themselves (and even you!).

    Foodie Families

    Rooks to Cooks is pleased to release our newest and most innovative after school program yet  Foodie Families. We were inspired to create this course as a way to help parents and their children connect while expanding their knowledge and skills in the kitchen, AND add to their dinner recipe repertoire. 

    Foodie Families is all about building your families’ comfortability in the kitchen while creating some delicious memories, and even better food. Our experienced chefs will share industry tips, tricks and knowledge as they guide your family through NEW nutritious, delicious and out-of-the-box recipes the whole family will love. At Rooks to Cooks, we believe there is no better way to build relationships than to do so in the kitchen over food. Join us for this fun, educational and deliciously transformative course! 

    Foodie Families is well suited as a parent and child, grandparent and grandchild, caretaker and child, and/or sibling course for families of all ages and skill levels. Minimum 2 participants per household are required.

    Breakfast Club, is your child’s ticket to mastering the foundations and preparation of breakfast foods. Eggs shmegs! The Breakfast Club is here to kick your traditional breakfast foods up a notch, educate on the wonderful world of breakfast cookery, and start your child’s weekend off right. Each week our exclusive Breakfast Club students will come together to learn and prepare a new nutritious and delicious breakfast recipe that will inspire and encourage independence and self-sufficiency. At the end of each class, your child will serve up a gourmet breakfast for the entire family. Why not kick-start their day with our most innovative and delicious program yet?!
